Buxton Masonic Lodge No. 115, A.F. & A.M.
4 Christian Row, Buxton ME 04093

Welcome to Buxton Masonic Lodge #115 A.F.&A.M. “The strength of Freemasonry is in it’s loyalty to each other”

At the end of the meeting, during the closing, the Worshipful Master asks the Junior Warden “how do Mason’s meet” to which the Junior Warden responds “on the level”.
I’ve put some thought into this as I’ve just started my time sitting in the South. Being on the level reminds us that all men are created equal, we are on a level playing field with other members and other men in general.
While the level is the symbol of the Senior Warden, the plumb represents the station I am in, the Junior Warden. The plumb admonishes us to walk uprightly in our several stations before God and man.
The level and plumb are closely related in operative as well as speculative masonry, they go together and should be in harmony.

We witness a lot of ritual and see much symbolism in Masonry, none of which should be forgotten.
